Lucknow Super Giants secured a dominant win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH vs LSG) in their IPL 2025 clash at Uppal Maidan. Despite a close loss in their season opener, Lucknow showcased an impressive all-round performance in their second match. Captain Rishabh Pant credited his mentor, MS Dhoni, for guiding him through challenging situations.
Pant Acknowledges Dhoni’s Influence
"It's a great relief. Team work is always our essence. We never get carried away with wins or down with losses. We concentrate on whatever we are doing, something which I have learned from my guru MS Dhoni. Young bowler Prince bowled well, Shardul Thakur was spectacular. Sending Pooran up in the order didn't have special reasoning behind it—we just wished to give him a bit of freedom. Being encouraged is something when you're playing an attacking game. Even now, I feel we are yet to play our best cricket, but the win brings joy," Pant recounted.
Nicholas Pooran on His Performance
"Wearing the Orange Cap is great, but winning is prettier. We did not strategize as such for sixes—it all depends on the timing of the ball. If you play your talent at the right moment, runs will follow automatically. Hyderabad is a high-score city, so if wickets are not lost during powerplay, chasing any score is possible. The left-right alliance with Mitchell Marsh is working, and good associations enable us to dominate the game," said Orange Cap holder Nicholas Pooran, who has played 145 runs in two matches.
And Shardul Thakur earned six wickets to claim the Purple Cap.
