Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) tasted defeat in their third successive game in the IPL 2025 season, going down by 80 runs to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens. Post the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins identified that although their bowling was good, fielding mistakes contributed significantly to the defeat.
Fielding Blunders Spoil SRH
Cummins agreed that fielding errors and the lack of concentration in the field spoiled their chances. "We did not play well. The pitch was good, and it was a must-win game. But our fielding errors cost us dear. Losing three games in a row is disappointing, and we have to devise better plans," he said.
Batting and Bowling Performance
The SRH skipper accepted that their batsmen began well but could not maintain momentum. He stressed that there should have been tactical adjustments, mainly fielding. "Bowling was not poor. If we had taken a couple of catches, the game might have turned," Cummins pointed out.
Decision to Exclude Zampa
Discussing Adam Zampa's exclusion from the playing eleven, Cummins said, "We had decided to bowl just three overs of spin. Ansari bowled well, and we were having trouble gripping the ball properly, which affected the thinking of not playing Zampa."
Looking Ahead
Cummins is still upbeat despite the losses. "We won't think too much about these losses. We know our positives, and we'll prove ourselves in the coming games," he asserted.
