Ruturaj Gaikwad's Availability in Doubt Following Injury
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) can be captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni during their next game against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. CSK batting coach Mike Hussey informed that Ruturaj Gaikwad's fitness status remains uncertain following his injury in the match against Rajasthan Royals.
Decision Depends on Net Practice and Fitness Assessment
Hussey said the last call is subject to Ruturaj's performance in practice. "It depends on his recovery. We will see how he bats in the nets before taking any decision," Hussey said.
Dhoni Possibly Taking Over as Captain Again
While Hussey didn't specify who would open if Ruturaj is not available, he suggested a "young wicketkeeper" could open. Fans interpreted this as a tongue-in-cheek reference to Dhoni, who is experienced but also fondly playfully referred to as 'young' based on his fitness.
