MS Dhoni Clarifies IPL Retirement Rumors

Reports surfaced recently suggesting that Mahendra Singh Dhoni might announce his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). The speculation intensified when Dhoni’s parents, Pan Singh and Devaki Devi, attended the Chennai Super Kings' match against Delhi Capitals at Chepauk. Their rare appearance sparked talk among fans and media that Dhoni could be preparing for a retirement announcement.

Though, Dhoni never confirmed such reports post-game, providing some respite to the fans. While talking in a recent podcast, Dhoni explained that he does not have any plans to retire from the IPL in the near future.

Dhoni's Statement on His IPL Future

Dhoni also indicated that he assesses his retirement option on a yearly basis. He had said, "I'm still playing in the IPL. I review this every year. I'm 43 years old now and will be 44 in July. I have about 10 months to decide. My body will tell me, not me. If I'm feeling physically good before the season starts, I will play. I'll continue to play till I feel it's time to retire.
