Hitesh Gulia has created history as the first Indian to bag a gold medal at the World Boxing Cup. He won the top spot in the 70kg weight category after England's Odell Kamara pulled out of the final due to injury.
Abinash Jamwal Wins Silver in 65kg Category
Another Indian boxer, Abinash Jamwal, made it to the final in the 65kg category. He won the silver medal when he lost to Brazil's Uri Reis.
India Wins Six Medals Overall
India completed the tournament with a total of six medals. The medal winners are:
- Jadhumani Singh (50kg) – Bronze
- Manish (55kg) – Bronze
- Sachin (60kg) – Bronze
- Vishal (90kg) – Bronze
Pre-Tournament Training Helped the Team
Hitesh added that the pre-event training camp in Brazil was beneficial for him and the team as it improved their performance at the competition.
