Lucknow SuperGiants' next-gen spinner Digvesh Rathi has dominated news headlines this IPL 2025 season with his consistent and generous performances. A league debutant, Rathi has proved calm and competent and has his team buzzing.
In five games, Rathi has taken seven wickets, taking vital breaks as well as maintaining his economy. His line and length have frustrated even seasoned players to score easily.
Top-order opener Aiden Markram has praised the contribution of Rathi, explaining the traits which make him a top-notch player. Markram says Rathi adds a particular edge to the bowling department by creating uncertainty about his spin.
"Digvesh's bowling is special. His ability to create spin with some uncertainty does give him an obvious edge," said Markram. "He can bowl stingy lengths at all times, which puts pressure on the opposition. He's got unbelievable ball control, and that's not something many of the spinners can do."
Markram also spoke about the need for accuracy, particularly on smaller pitches. "On small grounds, length does make a difference. If a bowler gets it wrong, he gets punished. Digvesh's accuracy in bowling good lengths has been the difference this season.".
