Chennai Super Kings Are Still Committed
Chennai Super Kings are having a tough IPL 2025 season. The team is currently placed at 9th position on the points table after five consecutive losses, with their playoff chances hanging by a thread. Even home games at Chepauk have not brought the desired outcomes. Despite the current slump, CSK batting coach Mike Hussey maintains the team is competitive and capable.
"Every player in the team is talented," said Hussey. "We are working on instilling confidence in them. Our aim is to keep them positive in every department—batting, bowling, and fielding. We want our players to play their natural game, as that is where you get results. There is no extra pressure to alter their way of playing."
Criticism Over Player Selection Draws Strong Response
CSK's present middle order consists of names such as Shivam Dube, Rahul Tripathi, Vijay Shankar, and Deepak Hooda. Some of the retired players have expressed dissatisfaction over their repeated selection despite erratic performances. There are allegations that the present team doesn't show the dominance of the earlier CSK teams, giving rise to rumors of compromise on quality.
To this, Hussey strongly objected. "I wholeheartedly disagree with that opinion," he said. "Earlier, we had good players like Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane scoring match-winning innings. But our players now also have the capability of reaching that level. We're determined to stand behind them and bring out their best performances. We have robust talent on the bench too. Once Josh returns, we feel sure we'll make a concerted effort towards finishing in the top four."
