Chennai Super Kings Include Dewald Brevis In Squad

Strategic Shift in CSK Squad

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made a change in their squad lineup during the current season of IPL. Struggling due to the absence of aggressive batting players, CSK has included South African hard-hitting batsman Dewald Brevis. Famously called 'Baby AB', Brevis was acquired for ₹2.20 crore as an injury replacement for bowler Gurjapneet Singh.

The franchise confirmed this move on Friday. The 21-year-old right-handed batter is expected to be available for the remainder of the season. Brevis, who has previously represented Mumbai Indians in 10 IPL matches, adds much-needed firepower to Chennai’s batting unit.

Dasun Shanaka Joins Gujarat Titans

In a parallel development, Gujarat Titans have signed Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka into their side. He replaces Glenn Phillips, who has been declared out of action for the entire season through injury.

Shanaka comes with a rich overseas experience, having played 102 T20 Internationals for Sri Lanka. He has made 1,456 runs and 33 wickets in the format. His record so far includes playing 71 ODIs and 6 Tests. Shanaka was with the Gujarat Titans in 2023 and featured in three games.
