RCB Vs RR: Rajat Patidar Says Team Will Not Blame Home Losses On Conditions

RCB Home Struggles Persists in IPL 2025

RCB have had trouble playing at their home stadium, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, during this season's 2025 IPL. They lost all three matches played at home. Meanwhile, the team played well away from home with five wins. Their record makes them rank fourth among the present IPL rankings. While getting ready to play against Rajasthan Royals at home today, the captain of the team, Rajat Patidar, spoke on their performance.

Patidar: No Excuses for Home Defeats

Commenting on the pitch conditions, Patidar acknowledged the challenges:

"The pitches at Chinnaswamy are tough this season, but that’s not an excuse. We’ve performed well away from home, achieving key victories."

He emphasized focusing on performance rather than external factors like the toss:

"We can't win the toss. What we can do is how we play. We have to adapt fast to the conditions. Tossing or not tossing does not decide the result of the match. When batting first, it's our job to get a competitive score."

Improvement and Current Matches

Patidar further emphasized the need to learn from the past matches and remain focused:

"There are consecutive games in this league. It's all about being present, learning from our errors, and not repeating them. We are focusing on winning today's game instead of dwelling on previous home defeats."

Playoff Scenarios and What's at Stake

RCB have 10 points and a net run rate of +0.472 and are currently at the fourth spot. They will have a hope to move further up if they can beat Rajasthan Royals convincingly. But leapfrogging first-placed Gujarat Titans (12 points, +1.104 NRR) is not going to happen. Delhi Capitals have 12 points and are placed along with Gujarat Titans at the top-two.

Finishing within the top four is crucial for playoff qualification, and the top two sides have an extra hand with two chances in the knockout stages.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, are in a fix. With just 4 points under their belt, they have to win all the remaining six games if they want to remain playoff contenders.
