Arjun Tendulkar Could Become The Next Chris Gayle, Says Yograj Singh

Yograj Singh Thinks Arjun Tendulkar Has Unleashed Batting Potential

Yograj Singh, a former Indian cricketer and Yuvraj Singh's father, thinks that Arjun Tendulkar can become a strong batter like Chris Gayle. In Yograj's opinion, if Arjun trains under Yuvraj Singh, he can reach a stage as good as the West Indies legend.

Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, now plays as a fast bowler for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He was bought for ₹30 lakhs in the mega auction. Arjun trained briefly with Yograj Singh in 2022 as well, and now his observations have been shared by Yograj.

Yograj Advises Change from Bowling to Batting

Yograj mentioned that during training, he advised Arjun to reduce his bowling focus and work more on his batting skills. He emphasized that Arjun's all-round potential remains untapped.

“I told Arjun to prioritize batting. Fast bowlers struggle under pressure. He should train under Yuvraj for three months. If that happens, I’m confident he will become the next Chris Gayle,” said Yograj.

Current Performance of Arjun Tendulkar in Domestic Cricket

Arjun Tendulkar's home performance this season has been mixed. In the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he made 40 runs in two innings and took four wickets in three matches.

In the Ranji Trophy, his batting was modest with 51 runs in three innings. But his bowling was impressive, taking 16 wickets in four matches at a stunning average of 18.18.

Arjun's Recent IPL Appearances and Form

Arjun debuted in the IPL in 2023 for the Mumbai Indians. To date, he has appeared in five games. In the ongoing IPL season, though, he has not been part of the playing XI.
