The much-awaited pre-release event of the film 'Daku Maharaj', scheduled to be held today in Anantapur, has been cancelled. Directed by Bobby and starring Balakrishna, the film is scheduled to be released on January 12 as a Sankranti special. The event was supposed to be a grand affair with Andhra Pradesh Minister and Balakrishna's son-in-law, Nara Lokesh, as the chief guest. However, the production house rescheduled and canceled the event due to a tragic mishap that had occurred in Tirupati.

Production Team Official Statement

The official statement of the production house was as follows:

"Our entire film crew is saddened by the incident that has taken place at Tirupati. It hurts that such an incidence occurred on a holy site. We don't feel we can have a joyous celebration with this situation. We're canceling today's event with a heavy heart and out of consideration for the sentiments of the devotees. We hope you will be supportive during this trying time."

Details of the Tirupati Incident

The incidence of tragedy at Tirupati took place at Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan Token Centers, as a stampede there killed people. TTD EO Shyamala Rao confirmed that 41 persons were injured in the mishap. More would be known after an inquiry into the incident, which also involves opening of the gates by DSP.
