Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the Congress party was committed to fulfilling its promises, and at least six hundred promises would be implemented. Speaking at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) office on Thursday, Reddy declared that every promise made by the Congress holds the value of a "golden line." He announced two major pledges ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections next month:
- Gas cylinders at Rs 500 along with a ration kit.
- In addition, up to 300 units of free electricity per month.
To which the Congress has so far made five promises for Delhi. Revanth Reddy said that all the promises would be implemented if the party comes to power and took personal responsibility for their execution.
Fulfilling Promises from Telangana to Delhi
The promises from Telangana to Delhi were supposed to be fulfilled. Revanth Reddy touted the track record of the Congress in its fulfillment of promises during the Telangana Assembly elections. Prominent ones included:
- Waiving loans of up to Rs 2 lakh for farmers. In the first year alone, Rs 21,000 crores in loans were waived, and benefited 25.5 lakh farmers.
- Free RTC bus travel for women
- Subsidized gas cylinders at Rs 500 for 50 lakh families
- 200 units of free electricity per month for households.
He compared this to the BJP's unfulfilled promises of employment generation. Reddy noted that while Prime Minister Modi had promised creation of 2 crore jobs each year, in Parliament he had confessed to making only 7 lakh jobs for the last ten years.
Developmental Commitments by Congress
Reddy credited Congress under Sheila Dikshit's leadership for Delhi's progress, citing infrastructure advancements such as metro rail, roads, and flyovers. He criticized both the Modi-led central government and Kejriwal's administration for Delhi's current struggles with pollution and underdevelopment. "The Congress is the only party capable of addressing Delhi's problems effectively in Parliament," he stated.
Fighting Corruption for Progress
Revanth Reddy stressed the Congress was working to completely eradicate corruption and especially in Telangana. He mentioned Delhi liquor scam wherein he claimed his party was capable of fighting the corruption and ensuring all the commitments were delivered. He claimed investment of Rs 1 lakh crore were possible for Telangana through the Davos economic summit happening soon.
