'Coolie' is an upcoming Indian movie in Tamil and Telugu languages, this action thriller film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures. The film stars Rajinikanth in the titular role, alongside Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John and Junior MGR.
Officially announced in September 2023 with the temporary title as Thalaivar 171, the name to the lead film of Rajinikanth as the 171st lead and the permanent title is announced April 2024. The principal photography began in July at Hyderabad and at Visakhapatnam on the next schedule, followed by another one which took place in Jaipur. The film has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander, and cinematography by Girish Gangadharan; Philomin Raj handles the cutting job.
Coolie will be distributed throughout the world during 2025 in standard formats and IMAX.
