Young cricketer Gongadi Trisha has drawn significant inspiration from former Indian women's team captain Mithali Raj. This talented Telugu batter made history by becoming the first player to score a century in the ongoing Women's Under-19 World Cup. Trisha delivered an outstanding performance, remaining unbeaten with 110 runs off 53 balls against Scotland on Tuesday.
"I grew up watching Mithali Akka play, and I admire the way she constructs her innings. I want to follow the same approach. She is my role model," Trisha shared in a video posted by the BCCI.
A Special Milestone in Her Career
Trisha described her century as a memorable achievement. "I only realized I had reached a hundred when my teammates congratulated me. Usually, I don’t check the scoreboard or count my runs," she said.
She also credited her father for playing a vital role in her journey as a cricketer. "Scoring a century in front of my father is very special to me. He attends almost all my matches. I dedicate this century in the Under-19 World Cup to my parents," Trisha added.
