Close associate of Ratan Tata gets critical position in Tata Group

Shantanu Naidu, who spent the last years of his life with legendary industrialist Ratan Tata, is the newest important appointment in Tata Group. He has been made a General Manager of Strategic Initiatives at Tata Motors. He expressed his glee at this achievement through a LinkedIn post.

He, while reflecting on his journey, wrote, "My father (referring to Ratan Tata) used to walk home from the Tata Motors plant in a white shirt and navy blue pants. At that time, I used to wait for him and watch from the window. Now the days have come when I can also walk like that."

Shantanu had earlier worked as General Manager at Tata Trusts. Since 2018, he had been helping Ratan Tata and became good friends with the industrialist, despite their difference in age. Their love for street dogs helped them to be close to each other. In due course, he was more than an assistant to Tata. He was his confidant.

Remembering Ratan Tata

Ratan Tata had passed away last October, and it was then that Shantanu was dejected. He had expressed his condolence on social media, writing, "Your going has created a lacuna in our friendship. I will try to make up that shortage. The loss of this love cannot be mended. Goodbye my dear lighthouse."
