
The Telangana government has credited the accounts of 17.03 lakh farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. The amount was credited on Wednesday for lands under cultivation up to one acre across the state. Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao confirmed the deposits, saying this is the second tranche of payments after the scheme was launched on Republic Day. The first tranche was deposited on January 27.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy ordered the disbursement of funds under the second tranche, thereby providing timely relief to farmers. The maximum number of beneficiaries was reported in Nalgonda district (1.55 lakh), followed by Siddipet (1.20 lakh), Medak (1.15 lakh), Sangareddy (1.15 lakh), Kamareddy (1.09 lakh), and Khammam (1.04 lakh).
More than Rs. 1,126 Crore Deposited in Farmers' Accounts Since Scheme Launch
Since the commencement of Rythu Bharosa scheme, Minister Rao informed that a total amount of Rs. 1,126.54 crore has been deposited in the accounts of 21,45,330 farmers from January 27 to now. He further made the commitment and vowed that the state government will ensure the distribution of the remaining funds on priority basis along with the commitments made to the farming community.
Besides the above, an amount of Rs. 7,625 crore was provided in Rythu Bandhu. Then there were loans of Rs 20,616.89 crores given towards loan waiver. Another scheme named Rythu Bima saw the flow of Rs 3,000 crore.
Procurement of Soybean, Pesara, and Kandi Crops Worth Rs. 406 Crores
Minister Rao announced Markfed procured the soiabean, pesara, and kandi crops for an amount of Rs. 406.24 crore. Apart from this, the state procured 48.06 lakh tonnes of paddy during Yasangi for Rs. 10,547 crore and 52.51 lakh tonnes in the rainy season for Rs. 12,178.97 crore. Bonus of Rs. 500 per quintal for fine paddy amounting to Rs. 1,154 crore has also been paid and bonus for Sanna paddy is to be continued in the coming Yasangi season.
Demand for Cotton Procurement Period to be Extended and Support Price to be Fixed
Highlighting the need for further support, the Minister urged the central government to extend the cotton procurement period in Telangana. A formal request was made on Wednesday, emphasizing the necessity of setting a minimum support price for turmeric and chilli crops to ensure fair compensation for farmers.
