India speed star Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025. Young speed bowler Harshit Rana has taken his place in his absence by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Bumrah has been out of the running since the conclusion of the Australia tour with chronic back issues. There were initial expectations of him gauging his fitness in the third ODI against England in Ahmedabad, but that never happened. Instead, Bumrah remained behind at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, which left everyone more in the dark about his comeback. His omission from the team was then left to the choice of the selectors, and that way was opened for Harshit Rana.
Yashasvi Jaiswal also failed to make it to the tournament. Spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been given a place in his absence.
