In the context of events that were flowing, Chief Minister Chandrababu, while addressing the tribal community, emphasized that there are no intentions of taking down the 1/70 Act so as to ensure that tribal rights are well guarded. Responding on the ‘X’ social media platform, he requested tribal people to not fall prey to false panic mongering or information.
As stated by Chandrababu while speaking to the public, “We believe firmly that in order to sustain the Indian culture, tribal communities need to be taken care of. That's the reason why we are working around the clock to improve their education, health care and living conditions.” He has also drawn attention towards the initiatives taken by the government through exclusive tribal welfare and development schemes.
The Chief Minister further spoken about the branding of Areca coffee and other tribal products to international markets. He referred to G.O. No. 3, which was passed during the period of Guntakal united state government, where it was aimed at the stipulation that all educational positions in the teaching profession in tribal areas shall be reserved to aborigines only. The order was nullified due to the negligence of the previous government. However, because of the complex legal issues raised by the previous government, this order was annulled. However, Chandrababu made a point that it is in the strategy of the government to bring this order back.
He emphasized, “There are no plans to change the 1/70 Act, which was put in place to ensure that only tribals hold ownership rights to properties in tribal areas. Our dedication to the development and welfare of tribal communities, who frequently face marginalization in society, is steadfast.”
