Quick commerce has experienced an amazing boom, with customers increasingly depending on such services for almost instant delivery. Sensing the trend, Amazon has now entered the quick commerce league with 10-minute delivery services. Such services are currently available only in Bengaluru.
Amazon Now: 10-Minute Delivery in Bengaluru Areas
Amazon has launched 10-minute deliveries in certain areas of Bengaluru with the name tag 'Amazon Now'. The company will take this service to other areas and more cities in the days to come. A report in an English newspaper indicated that the company has made such arrangements.
Amazon's Quick Commerce Strategy
Amazon has pre-stocked 1,000 to 2,000 items for its quick commerce service. Amazon has been developing this service for the past three months, with reports indicating it has been hiring staff to serve the needs of this segment. Besides grocery and fresh fruits and vegetables, Amazon also targets delivering beauty and household appliances within 10 minutes.
Competition in the Quick Commerce Market
Amazon enters the quick commerce market with competition from Blinkit, Swiggy, Zepto, and Flipkart. Flipkart, for example, had launched its quick commerce service, 'Minutes', in August last year and has since added 120-150 dark stores. The company is expanding this network to 500-550 stores before the Big Billion Day festival this year.
Amazon's shift to quick commerce is a big change in the e-commerce segment, providing scope for more competition and faster deliveries in key cities.
