Indian Migrants: Flight Carrying Illegal Immigrants To Arrive In Amritsar On Sunday

The United States government is deporting many illegal immigrants, including many Indian citizens. A set of 19 Indian migrants is said to come to Amritsar on Sunday as one of the programs to be done in this process. Another flight is also in the pipeline, but the exact arrival date of the flight is yet to be confirmed.

Deportation Process Continues

Illegal immigrants were boarded on three US military C-17 Globemaster aircraft, which transported them to the US. Of the 119 people coming in the first flight from India:

  • 67 are Punjab. One of them is from a province, which is one of the Indian states.
  • 33 people are from Haryana.
  • 8 people come from Gujarat.
  • 3 people are Uttar Pradesh.
  • 2 are each from Goa, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra.
  • 1 person each belongs to Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and they are the Indian states from where they arrive respectively.

Government is of the view that the deportation process will take place weekly until all the illegal immigrants have been repatriated.

Past Controversy Over Deportation

Within the previous week, 104 of the Indians were repatriated from the US, which led to demurs of using handcuffs and leg chains during the process of conveyance. On his part, the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi himself rose the problem of handcuffs and leg chains used for the transit specifically with then-president of the United States Donald Trump. The subsequent conversation between the two leaders as well as Mr. Modi's reiteration the illegal immigration as a universally unacceptable practice became the final point. The prime minister promised to go after human traffickers, small fry who involve young people, and poor people as well. He will punished them severely to show that the practice of human trafficking is not welcome.

White House’s Valentine's Day Message on Illegal Immigration

Valentine’s Day was the day the White House chose to upload a post regarding the issue of illegal immigrants. On the outside, a greeting card contained a very stern message, reading:

“Roses are red. Violets are blue. If you come here illegally, we will deport you.”

The post included images of former President Trump and Border Patrol Chief Thomas Homan, reinforcing the US administration’s firm stance on illegal immigration.
