BSNL Returns To Profit After 17 Years

It's official that profitable companies can now include state-owned telecom service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in their lists. It was a pretty big deal in the Q3 when the company unveiled the most recent financial report showing the profit of ₹262 crore. Ever since 2007, BSNL has been profitable for the first time in the Q3 quarter!

"This is a turning point," Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, thrilled, commented on the company’s achievements. He had put it this way: "BSNL has shown significant recovery, with a 14-18% growth in mobility, FTTH, and leased line services. The subscriber base has increased from 8.4 crore in June to 9 crore by December."

EBITDA of BSNL has also grown significantly, doubling from ₹1,100 crore in the last four years to ₹2,100 crore in FY 2023-24. The company is swiftly making advancements in 4G expansion, with 75,000 of them out of 1 lakh of them that were anticipated already installed. Among the 60,000 towers that are now operational, the completion is scheduled by June.
