
The union Home Minister, Amit Shah remarked that the country is all set to arrange the 2036 Olympic games. The country's Home Minister while being part of the 38th National Games' closing ceremony on the day of Friday, expressed on how the country stands in the field of sports, and underlined the growing capabilities of Indians in sports.
In the presence of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President P.T. Usha, the Games were finally announced closed, and the flag of the Games has been passed to Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma from the state Meghalaya which is the next National Games host.
India’s Commitment to Sports Development
Shah, India's Sports Minister, mentioning the tremendous changes achieved by India in sports said:
"India has a bright future in sports, and we are ready to host the 2036 Olympics. When the Games are held in India, our athletes will bring home medals and wave the tricolor with pride."
The minister also drew the country's attention to the fact that sports fund became much bigger under the Prime Minister Modi's government.
It had a budget of ₹800 crore in Modi's first year in office the sports budget was raised to ₹3,800 crore by 2023, thus, indicating the government's solid sports promotion.
Uttarakhand’s Rise in National Games
Shah also praised Uttarakhand’s impressive progress in the National Games.
"Uttarakhand has evolved from 'Deva Bhoomi' (Land of Gods) to 'Khel Bhoomi' (Land of Sports) due to its athletes' dedication. The state, which ranked 21st in the previous National Games, has now climbed to 7th place in the medal tally."
