Favreau and Filoni have already written the fourth season of The Mandalorian by February 2023. However, the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike and the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike caused the delay of the season's production. During this period, Lucasfilm rethought their plans for the franchise and instead decided to concentrate on a Mandalorian film instead of a season. In January 2024 it was declared. The project commenced in California in August 2024 and finished in December the same year.
