Amazon Prime Video Cancels Indian and Italian Citadel Spin-offs
Indian action-thriller television series Citadel: Honey Bunny featuring Varun Dhawan and Samantha has been officially canceled. The original series Citadel had an Indian version with Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden also featured in it. The eagerly waiting fans for season two of the show were left disappointed by Amazon Prime Video when they made an announcement about the same recently.
Both Indian and Italian Versions Combined Into Citadel Matrix
Citadel: Honey Bunny and its Italian equivalent Citadel: Diana, both emerged as regional spin-offs of the international Citadel franchise. Amazon, however, has shifted gear. Instead of standalone seasons, the narrative of these adaptations will be part of the larger Citadel Matrix series.
An Amazon spokesperson said, "We are canceling standalone continuations for Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana. Their story will now be included in the Citadel Matrix. These series have worked well with languages, and this decision is to open the Citadel universe wide."
Citadel Universe Continues With Priyanka Chopra in 2026
In spite of the cancellations, the primary plot of Citadel will go ahead. Amazon confirmed that Citadel Part 2 featuring Priyanka Chopra will hit the screen in 2026.
Indian Version Was a Streaming Success
Citadel: Honey Bunny topped Amazon Prime Video charts massively on Amazon Prime Video, becoming a record-smashing streaming viewership record. Varun Dhawan had previously, in an previous interview, mentioned that Season 2 could be made into a feature film. But since Amazon made this statement, all the plans were left pending and in the air for the people, keeping fans oblivious about how things will happen going forward.
