Development & Background

Following the release of Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection in 2021—which remastered Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Sigma 2, and Razor’s Edge—fans voiced strong demand for a new mainline entry. Team Ninja, eager to revive the franchise, sought collaboration with PlatinumGames due to a strong working relationship between Hisashi Koinuma (President of Koei Tecmo) and Atsushi Inaba (CEO of PlatinumGames).

With backing from Phil Spencer (CEO of Microsoft Gaming), Team Ninja and PlatinumGames officially began development on a new Ninja Gaiden installment. The game is led by Fumihiko Yasuda (head of Team Ninja and co-director of Ninja Gaiden 3) and Yuji Nakao (PlatinumGames), with Masakazu Hirayama co-directing.

Xbox Game Studios, in partnership with Koei Tecmo, will publish the game worldwide. The company previously worked on Ninja Gaiden II (2008) for Xbox 360 and collaborated with PlatinumGames on the canceled Scalebound project.
