It seems that there were a large number of patients in the hospital at the time of the accident. The fire first broke out in the operation theater of the hospital. Within moments, the entire hospital was engulfed in flames. Many people were injured in this incident. Patients in the hospital building are being shifted to other hospitals for treatment. A total of 52 patients were found in the hospital.
The explosions of nitrous oxide in the operation theaters caused the fire to spread throughout the building. Those in the ICU were evacuated safely. Fire and disaster management personnel responded quickly and saved the occupants of the building. Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Ravi Shankar Ayyannar himself is supervising the relief efforts.
It is said that almost everyone in the hospital has been evacuated safely. 15 people in ICU were evacuated safely. Fire crews also evacuated those on the third floor. Police said that the fire was out of control on the second floor and the patients on the first and third floors were rescued.
