
Jio Platforms Limited (Jio) of Reliance Group partnered with SpaceX's Elon Musk to provide satellite-based telecommunication services in the nation. Starlink Services, being a fully-owned subsidiary of SpaceX, is into offering high-speed internet connectivity over the satellite space.
Following Airtel's earlier tie-up with Starlink for improved internet, Jio has now done the same. Both telecommunication giants plan to provide these services as soon as regulatory clearances are received in India.
Jio’s Announcement on the Partnership
Jio labeled this partnership a significant move to propagate broadband connectivity in the nation. The firm unveiled that by combining Starlink with Jio Broadband, the service would become more reliable and offer faster internet connectivity. Jio will distribute Starlink services from its retail outlets and online platforms, enhancing customer accessibility.
Airtel's Response to Jio's Partnership with Starlink
Airtel greeted the partnership of Jio with SpaceX as a major step towards boosting satellite connectivity in India. Airtel reiterated its focus on ensuring high-speed internet services, particularly in rural and underdeveloped regions.
The partnership will:
- Offer Starlink devices in Airtel retail shops.
- Offer Starlink business connectivity through Airtel services.
- Boost connectivity in far-flung schools and healthcare centers.
