China's Reaction to Modi's Remarks
China's welcome came after Modi made comments on India-China relations in an interview on the Lex Fridman podcast in the United States.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning pointed out that the recent meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi in Kazan, Russia, last October was crucial for strengthening bilateral ties. Mao insisted that this contact offered strategic guidance to future collaboration.
Mao also pointed out that India and China have long diplomatic exchanges and cultural contacts. Throughout history, the two countries have enjoyed friendly consultations, learning from one another and making contributions to global progress and civilization.
"As two major emerging countries, China and India are making their development path through mutual cooperation," Mao said. She reiterated that China is still willing to cooperate with India in keeping with the common aspirations laid down by the leaders of the two nations.
Modi's Response on Solving India-China Issues
In his discussion with the Lex Fridman podcast, Prime Minister Modi highlighted his inclination towards dialogue to resolve disparities between the two nations. He stated that both countries are engaged in their efforts to bring back the pre-2020 status quo along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
