Team India's talented batter Shreyas Iyer will receive a BCCI central contract once again. In the previous year, the board did not grant him a contract since he failed to play in domestic cricket, a move which also impacted Ishan Kishan.
Shreyas Iyer's Great Comeback
After losing the contract, Shreyas had a good comeback and earned a spot in the Indian ODI team. He was India's highest run-getter in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with 243 runs in five matches. He also performed consistently in domestic cricket, making his case for a revival of his contract.
- Ranji Trophy 2025: 480 runs in five matches at 68.57 average
- Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: 345 runs, finishing as the fourth-highest scorer
- Vijay Hazare Trophy: 325 runs in five matches, averaging 325
BCCI’s Contract Updates
Considering his performances, a BCCI official confirmed that Shreyas will receive a central contract. However, Ishan Kishan’s contract remains uncertain. Meanwhile, despite retiring from T20 cricket, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to retain their A+ grade contracts (₹7 crore).
A year ago, the A+ grade was given to Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah, and only those players who were playing in all three formats were eligible.
