Babar Azam, Pakistan's star player, is once again getting trolled. Pakistan is playing a three-match series against New Zealand (NZ vs PAK) in ODIs. Pakistan was in dire need of winning the second ODI after losing the first game. But the batters at the top order failed again.
Batting first, New Zealand posted a target of 293 runs against Pakistan. Pakistan was bowled out for 208 runs in reply. Even with impressive performances by Faheem Ashraf (73) and bowler Naseem Shah (51), Pakistan was short.
Pakistan's Batting Collapse
New Zealand's bowlers asserted themselves, getting Pakistan to 32/5 early in the innings. Things took a turn for the worse as they lost 8 wickets for 114 runs. Captain Mohammad Rizwan (5), Babar Azam (1), Abdullah Shafiq (1), Imam-ul-Haq (3), and Salman Agha (9) all made no impression.
Faheem Ashraf and Naseem Shah scored a 60-run ninth-wicket partnership, but this only narrowed the margin of defeat. Pakistan's poor top-order performance was severely criticized, particularly against Babar Azam, who was the prime troll target.
Trolling on Babar Azam
Babar Azam's fall for a mere 1 run ignited social media trolling. Fans mocked his form with sarcastic remarks, criticizing his failure to score heavily.
- "Babar Azam missed his hundred by 99 runs!"
- "Pakistan loses regardless of Babar or not, but nobody discusses it!"
- "Prior to the game, individuals remarked that his 32nd century was around the corner. Indeed, it began from 0 and rose to 1. Only 99 runs more to achieve!"
The bashing goes on as Pakistan falters in the ODI series, with the side under tremendous pressure to perform better.
