Harry Brook Appointed New England ODI And T20 Captain

Harry Brook Succeeds Jos Buttler in the Role of Captain

Harry Brook has officially been appointed England's new One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 (T20) cricket captain. The development was made official by the England and Wales Cricket Board after England's poor outing in the previous Champions Trophy.

Following the tournament, Jos Buttler resigned as captain. In turn, the board appointed 26-year-old Harry Brook to take over the leadership responsibilities. Brook has already been the vice-captain in both limited-overs since making his debut in 2022. He stated that he was honored to be leading the national team.

Brook Skips IPL Again, Faces Ban

Brook is not playing the ongoing 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He also missed the tournament last season. As per IPL regulations, any player bought at auction who misses two successive seasons while being fit is liable to be banned for two years. Brook is now covered under that clause.

Last year, he gave the death of his grandmother as the reason for pulling out. This year, Brook said he pulled out to concentrate on England's next international series. According to current rules, Brook can only come back to the IPL in 2027.
