Senior IPS Officer Held by CID in Hyderabad for Actor Jatwani Complaint
PSR Anjaneyulu, a retired Indian Police Service officer and ex-chief of Andhra Pradesh's Intelligence Department, has been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The arrest was made in Hyderabad as part of a criminal case over allegations made by Mumbai-based actress Jatwani.
Anjaneyulu was the Intelligence Chief when the YSR Congress Party-led government was in power and was famous for being close to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He is suspended from service now. After his arrest, officials have started the process of shifting him from Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh for further investigation.
Charged with Masterminding Legal Action Against Actress
According to officials, Anjaneyulu has been named as the second accused in the case filed by Jatwani. The actress alleges that several senior officers conspired to falsely implicate her. Notably, previous actions against the former Commissioner of Police in Vijayawada, Kantirana's grandfather, and another IPS officer, Vishal Gunni, have included suspensions.
Investigations indicate that following instructions from YSRCP leadership on the Jatwani case, Anjaneyulu is said to have coordinated legal processes, such as determining charges and the arrest plan. A complaint was then lodged by YSRCP leader Kukkala Vidyasagar in Ibrahimpatnam against Jatwani for forging property documents and conducting fraudulent sales.
Jatwani and Family Subjected to Arrest and Remand
Acting on this complaint, local police arrested Jatwani and her parents and shifted them from Mumbai to Vijayawada. Police officers Kantirana and Gunni allegedly coordinated the operation, including the enforcement of remand orders.
Following the change in government, Jatwani filed a complaint, accusing officials of misconduct and alleging wrongful arrest and harassment on her part. Due to her complaint, Vidyasagar, PSR Anjaneyulu, Kantirana, and Vishal Gunni have cases filed against them now.
