Hyderabad Police have stepped up their probe into the betting apps case, interrogating actors Vishnu Priya and Ritu Chaudhary for hours. The Panjagutta Police are questioning both of them separately, reportedly having them in one room.
Vishnu Priya's Admission
Under interrogation, Vishnu Priya had confessed to endorsing three betting apps. But when shown reports that indicated she had endorsed 15 apps, she said, "I don't remember. I remember only three." The police are now collecting information about the money earned through these endorsements. They have asked her for her bank account statements and asked her to submit full financial records if summoned for further questioning.
Police Widening Investigation
In the meantime, the Miyapur Police have also stepped up their investigation. They are probing arrangements pertaining to promotion of betting apps and taking action against apps which are running in states where they are prohibited.
Action will also be taken against celebrities who voluntarily entered into arrangements for promoting such apps, the authorities have warned. Investigators are:
- Gathering details of social media influencers concerned.
- Monitoring the betting apps being promoted by them.
- Scrutinizing payments made for promotion.
The officials said the influencers will receive warnings and could face further probes if they have been found promoting betting apps.
