Prakash Raj Reacts To Betting App Scandal: 'I Realized My Mistake'

The recent controversy over betting apps has ignited debates in Telugu states, with the authorities cracking down on actors and influencers endorsing them. Senior actor Prakash Raj is one of those included in the probe. Speaking about the issue, he posted a video on X to explain his position.

Prakash Raj's Statement on the Ad

Prakash Raj clarified that he had unwittingly promoted an online gaming app in 2016. He owned up to his error and chose not to extend the tie-up beyond the first contract.

"I was approached for the advertisement in 2016. At that time, what I said in the ad was true. However, within a few months, I realized it was a mistake. When they requested an extension in 2017, I refused. Since my contract was for a year, I couldn’t stop it immediately. But I told them, 'Do not air that ad anymore. I will not be associated with this.' After that, I never worked for any gaming app."

Legal Action Against Unauthorised Use

Prakash Raj exposed that in 2021, when the company was sold, his ad again popped up on social media without his permission. He initiated legal action, issuing notices and personally asking for its removal through WhatsApp, which resulted in its instant removal.

"Earlier, it had come up again, and that is why I am explaining the situation. I have not been given any official notice by the police yet, but if I receive one, I am prepared to explain everything."

Prakash Raj's Warning To Online Gaming

The actor stressed the risks of betting apps, warning the young people to avoid them.

"Gaming apps are an addiction. Youth, keep away from them. Don't destroy your life."

Prakash Raj has made it clear that he regrets his past association with betting apps and remains committed to raising awareness about their negative impact.
