Actor Rana Daggubati's team has made it clear that he was linked only with skill-based gaming apps and not with any betting platforms. This clarification comes in light of recent talks in the Telugu states, where police have filed cases related to betting apps and called for questioning people associated with them.
Rana's Involvement Ended in 2017
His company informed that Rana's brand endorsement time expired in 2017 and reiterated that:
- He was a brand ambassador of a legally sanctioned skill-based gaming app.
- The campaign was restricted to specific locations.
- His lawyers vetted all the agreements prior to him endorsing the platform.
Legal Compliance & Supreme Court Ruling
Rana's team pointed out that the Supreme Court of India, in a landmark judgment, has categorized skill-based games as separate from gambling, with such games being illegal.
Clarification by Team Rana
- Rana never offered any unlawful betting applications.
- His promotions were, at all points, within the purview of the law.
