
US President Donald Trump has said that a transaction regarding the sale of TikTok in the United States is highly likely to be completed within the April 5 deadline. He added that a number of prospective buyers had expressed interest in purchasing the app. It has been reported that a number of global companies have said that they are interested in buying the short-video platform.
Earlier, Trump indicated that a US government-held sovereign wealth fund may buy TikTok. Microsoft has also expressed interest in buying the platform. Data privacy concerns and allegations that TikTok shares American users' data with China have prompted the US House of Representatives to pass a bill requiring the app to sell off its Chinese stake or be banned.
The US Supreme Court initially ordered January 19 as the date for TikTok to sell its US business or be banned. Later, the deadline was shifted to April 5.
