Elon Musk to Visit India Later This Year
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk recently announced that he will be visiting India in the later half of 2025. He shared the information via X (previously Twitter), saying that it was an honor to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Even though Musk had earlier arranged for the visit before last year's general elections, the visit had to be rescheduled. In its stead, Musk visited China at the time.
Significant Discussions with PM Modi
The previous week, during a telephonic conversation related to it, Prime Minister Modi and Musk discussed possible collaboration between them in the said areas of technology and innovation. Modi tweeted about their conversation on X, mentioning that earlier products of their Washington meeting had been reviewed again. He emphasized India's resolve to deepen collaboration with America in such critical areas.
Tesla, Starlink Eye Indian Market
Tesla and Starlink, both of which are being led by Musk, are preparing for their Indian entry. Tesla has already begun testing its Model Y car on Indian roads, with a recent sighting on the Mumbai-Pune expressway drawing public attention. Tesla showrooms to be launched are also in the works.
Starlink Expands Activity in India
Starlink is also making headway. Top company officials have recently met with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. While tie-ups with telecom majors Airtel and Jio have been firmed up, the concerned regulatory approvals by the Indian government are still pending. Musk's planned visit is being seen as a significant step towards the resolution of these issues.
