
Government Bans Pakistan-Based YouTube Channels
The Indian central government banned broadcasts of some Pakistan-based YouTube channels.
- A total of 16 Pakistani news and entertainment media channels are now banned.
- Some top channels that are affected include Dawn News, Geo News, Samaa TV, and individual accounts of some Pakistani journalists.
- Shoaib Akhtar's YouTube channel wasn't only banned in India but also in several other countries.
When such channels are tried to be accessed by users, YouTube shows a message:
"The content is not available. This decision has been taken on the orders of the central government in view of national security."
The Pakistani government's official 'X' account is already suspended in India.
The sources from the Indian government indicated that the ban has been made for:
- Spreading inflammatory content against India
- Shifting religiously sensitive material
- Spreading disinformation
Large-Scale Searches in Jammu and Kashmir
In the wake of the recent Pahalgam attack, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have stepped up operations against local terrorist networks.
- Large-scale searches have been conducted by security forces at different places in Doda district.
- Several houses linked with terrorist activities have been searched and demolished in some instances.
Pahalgam Attack Details
- On April 22, a band of terrorists attacked the tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu, and Kashmir.
- 26 civilians died in the assault.
- The incident resulted in a sharp escalation in the conflict between India and Pakistan.
India has reacted strongly, taking stringent measures against Pakistan for the latter's continued backing of cross-border terrorism, such as kicking out Pakistani citizens from the nation.
