Today, the Congress is scheduled to make a "big announcement" that is anticipated to be included in the party's manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. It is anticipated to be a "game changer" for the nation's youth, women, farmers, underprivileged groups, and backward communities.
The announcement will be made during a public event in Badnawar, Madhya Pradesh, which Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge are expected to attend.
Rahul Gandhi wrote on X on Tuesday night, "Youth of the country! Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is currently passing through Madhya Pradesh." Degrees will now be valued, issues will be resolved, and jobs will be available to all."
His party "will put the command of the future in your hands," he declared. This coming Wednesday, there will be a significant news."
For the first time ever, the Congress will provide young people the "right to employment."
The PTI news agency cited a source as stating, "This is the first time ever that such a scheme to give 'right to employment' will be given to the youth of the country, and some allowance may also be offered to the youth."
The insider went on to say that not even wealthy nations provide such a programme for their youngsters.
Congress would discontinue the Agniveer army recruitment initiative and restart the previous one, according to sources who spoke with India Today.
The party would bring back the previous military recruitment programme and offer a discount on the interest rate on student loans.
Additionally, the Congress would propose measures to improve government recruitment transparency and enact strong laws and penalties to put an end to paper leaks nationwide.
The election agenda would also prioritise increasing the amount of money deposited directly into women's accounts through programmes like Grihalakshmi.
The party would also prioritise enacting legislation guaranteeing the minimum support price and pledging to conduct a nationwide census based on caste in order to fill open government positions.
To give the party manifesto a final form, the 16-member Congress manifesto committee met in Delhi on Tuesday night under the direction of former union minister P. Chidambaram.
Former Chhattisgarh deputy chief minister TS Singh Deo, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Siddramaiah, Jairam Ramesh, Shashi Tharoor, Praveen Chakravarty, Imran Pratapgarhi, Ranjeet Ranjan, Omkar Singh Markam, and Jignesh Mevani are among the members of the committee, which was established in December 2023.
Rahul Gandhi has been more critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recent days due to the high rate of youth unemployment in the nation.
During his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Sarangpur, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday, the Congress MP stated that young, unemployed people "keep watching reels (on social media) all day long."
"The Prime Minister wants you to look at your phones all day, chant Jai Shri Ram, and then die of hunger," he stated.
Rahul Gandhi made a similar accusation on Sunday, claiming that India's rate is twice as high as Pakistan's.
