Suryakumar's Heartfelt Appreciation For Richa's Heroic Effort

The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 saw Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) lose to Delhi Capitals (DC) in an exciting match on Sunday. Following the match, India's star batter, Suryakumar Yadav, praised Richa Ghosh for her heroic efforts.

Highlights of WPL 2024: DC vs. RCB

Richa scored 51 runs off 29 balls with four fours and three sixes on March 10 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, but she was unable to lead the RCB over the finish line. The thrilling action continued for 40 overs, but the Challengers were defeated by the Capitals by 1 run.

Richa, 20, batted with all of her might, and Suryakumar rushed to his Instagram account to console her, saying, "You are a star."

Delhi's Richa Ghosh puts on a show

With 182 to chase, RCB needed 17 runs to end the final over. To maintain her team in the game, Richa hit Jess Jonassen for a massive six over the bowler's end.

However, Jonassen returned shortly after, carrying a runout of Disha Kasat and a dot ball. Richa tapped one on the leg side and scored a double when ten runs were required off of ten balls.

The young player then reduced the target to two off one ball by putting Jonassen down for the second six of the over.

But Jonassen, who's no stranger to bowling late, threw one straight at the blockhole. Digging the ball out to a backward point and going for a single, Richa did a good job. However, Shafali Verma's forceful toss caught her just short of the crease.

Richa sat on the pitch in complete shock while Jonassen and Jemimah Rodrigues comforted her. She was sad. The person standing in the middle with Richa, Shreyanka Patil, was crying also.

Although the Challengers are ranked third in the standings, UP Warriorz is closing the gap on them in terms of postseason qualifying.
