North India is facing severe cold conditions because of high-temperature drops and a variety of disruptions. Heavy snowfall and dense fog have sealed Delhi and some other states in such a way that the flight and railway operations are getting severely affected.
Major Travel Disruptions in Delhi
Delhi Airport operations are currently put to a complete standstill. As many as 200+ flights have already been delayed. Another 30 have been outright cancelled, informed sources from the aviation authority said.
All passengers traveling in are advised to contact their airline to confirm timings. Indigo and Air India issued advisories urging passengers to remain vigilant with respect to schedule changes.

The poor weather has also caused a delay in air travels at airports of cities like Kolkata, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Jaipur. As many as 25 flight services were affected at Kolkata Airport.
Railway services are also facing heavy delays. Over 50 trains going to Delhi are delayed due to heavy snowfall and poor visibility. Fog has caused dangerous driving conditions in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Karnal, Ghaziabad, and other surrounding areas. Reduced visibility has led to traffic congestion and movement delays at many places.
Weather Forecast and Alerts
An early morning temperature reading of 10.2 degrees Celsius was registered in Delhi and the India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert in the region on Saturday. It has forecast intermittent light rain with the possibility of snowfall here till January 8.
