India to be an important investment place for the technology giant Microsoft, which will see more focus on cloud and developing AI capabilities. "We look forward to investing up to $3 billion over the next few years in growth of the data center market and AI innovations in India," stated Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO. Major Investments to Fuel India's AI Growth
Satya Nadella, during his tour of India, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. When speaking with Modi, Nadella mentioned that he wants to enhance the status of India in the global AI space. This $3 billion investment is part of Prime Minister Modi's vision for making India a developed nation by 2047. According to Nadella, it is a landmark initiative in the form of AI innovation for the future of India.
India is growing rapidly in AI skills
The CEO pointed out some of the great progress made by India regarding AI expertise. In the rest of the world, AI-skilled LinkedIn profiles have increased by 71%, but the increase has been more impressive in India, at 122%. When such momentum caught their eye, Microsoft previously released the Advantage India program to train 2 million AI experts by 2025. This was completed ahead of time. This achievement spurred the company to train 10 million people in AI skills by 2030.

According to Nadella, India will be critical in the AI revolution and produce future AI professionals on a massive scale. Nadella commended the technical talent in India and their openness to learning newer skills that placed the country ahead of other global leaders in the development of AI.
