Lack of Preparation Criticized for Vaikunthadwara Darshan Tokens
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu asked how proper arrangements were not made despite the fact that thousands of devotees would throng for Vaikunthadwara darshan tokens. He asked officials to be more vigilant and make proper planning while addressing them in a teleconference on Wednesday. The DGP, Thitide EO, Tirupati Collector, and SP were present in the teleconference during which Chandrababu reviewed the recent stampede incident in Tirupati.
He said that in this tragic mishap, things could have not been allowed to occur with proper vigilance. Criticizing officials for their complete failure to meet adequate public safety measures for such events and directed them also to improve upon medical services on injured persons and hold an inquiry with respect to proper scrutiny of distribution of tokens with regard to adequate security management at all counters.
Immediate Action and Feelings
Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the mishap, saying that he is particularly saddened after a successful program in Visakhapatnam turned out to be negative. He will be visiting Tirupati on Thursday to meet the injured. After the incident, the Chief Minister has been constantly in touch with Tirupati district officials and Thitide authorities, monitoring the situation and issuing directives to enhance medical care for the injured.
BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari also voiced her shock and sadness regarding the stampede and deaths caused by the accident. She asked for an inquiry at a higher level to deal strictly with anyone guilty of negligence in the event.
