Delhi Customs Seize Gold from Milan Flight Passengers

Delhi customs officials seized over 10 kg of gold from two passengers arriving from Milan, Italy. The seizure happened after authorities received intelligence reports that flagged the duo for suspicious behavior. Their luggage was scanned but no contraband was found at first.

Gold Coins Concealed in Specialized Belts

Personal search further found that passengers were wearing specialized belts. Upon searching, the belts had hundreds of gold coins in them. The amount each passenger was carrying is 5 kg. The total amount of gold seized by customs officials is 10.092 kg, and the amount was not documented, so it proved to be part of a smuggling racket. The value of the seized gold is estimated to be more than Rs. 7.8 crore.

Accused Identified, Investigation Underway

The two were taken into custody for further questioning. They hail from Kashmir. Delhi Customs officials have released pictures of the gold coins on their 'Ex' account in connection with the ongoing investigation.
