AP Housing: Two Cents Of Land For The Poor In Andhra Pradesh Distribution Begins

Housing AP: Land for the poor

The TDP coalition had promised during the elections that it would provide plots of land to the homeless to build their own homes. They had promised to provide three cents of land in rural areas and two cents in urban areas. Keeping this promise, the AP government has begun distributing house plots, with guidelines now framed. Significantly, for the first time in the state, two cents of land were distributed to the poor in Nellore district. Minister Narayana attended to hand over house titles to 126 poor people in Nellore, allotting two cents of land to families whose homes and lands were acquired for road widening.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Narayana said the government is systematically implementing the Super Six schemes. He also declared that there will be a mothers' tribute in May. He further repudiated the YSRCP's criticism of the state budget as baseless, reiterating that the budget is intended to benefit several segments of society, including the poor, youth, and farmers. The minister reminded that even though the YSRCP is in a financial crunch, they keep carrying out measures such as pension hikes and free gas cylinders, along with the forthcoming mother tribute in May.

The minister also visited VR High School in Nellore on Sunday, inspecting the required preparations for the rebuilding of the school. He ensured that VR High School will re-open with sophisticated facilities for the next academic year.

Minister Narayana pointed out that in 1979, VRC had 6,500 students before the closure. He spoke of opening a junior college in 2014 with 300 students, but the YSRCP government ended up closing it. Nevertheless, he revealed that the TDP coalition government recently made the decision to reopen schools from nursery to intermediate levels in order to provide quality education to poor students.
