The Andhra Pradesh police have intensified their investigation into the kidnapping and assault of Satyavardhan, a former employee at the Gannavaram TDP office. As part of the probe, the police raided the Hyderabad residence of YSRCP leader and former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi in Rayadurgam.
Police Focus on Vamsi’s Missing Phone
Authorities are confident that if they get to Vamsi’s cell phone they would have the most crucial evidence in the case. However, at his arrest in Hyderabad, the phone was MIA. It was his personal assistant's phone that was taken away on Thursday and is currently being examined at the forensic laboratory.
Rather Suspicious Phone Use Before Arrest
- When the police came to arrest Vamsi, he went into his house, changed his clothes, and while still in the house he talked on the phone for almost an hour before he gave up himself.
- The detectives are gathering the call data to find out who the caller was and what the conversation was about.
- Despite searching his entire residence for two hours, the police were unable to locate his phone.
Court Petition to Seize Vamsi’s Phone
Since the phone was not found during his arrest, the police have filed a petition in the SC/ST Special Court in Vijayawada seeking permission to seize it.
Investigators suspect that:
- Vamsi primarily uses WhatsApp calls instead of regular phone calls to avoid police tracking.
- The police are working to retrieve IPDR (Internet Protocol Detail Record) data to analyze his communication history.
- This phone could be crucial in identifying other suspects involved in the case.
Progress in the Investigation
So far, the police have:
- Identified 12 suspects in the Satyavardhan kidnapping case.
- Arrested five people, including Vamsi.
- Declared Koteswara Rao alias Kotlu (Vamsi’s main aide) as A2 in the case.
Hunt for Kotlu and Other Accused
Police believe that Kotlu played a key role in the incident and was the link between Vamsi and Satyavardhan. Authorities suspect that his arrest will reveal the full details of the case. Meanwhile, another police team is searching for the absconding accused.
