India's Aviation Industry Requires 30,000 Pilots Within 15-20 Years: Rammohan Naidu

India's civil aviation industry is growing rapidly. With passenger volumes rising consistently, airlines are increasing their fleets to cope with the growing demand. Therefore, an extensive rise in pilots will be required within the coming years, as per Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu.

Growing Demand for Pilots

  • Minister Rammohan Naidu pointed out that India will need approximately 30,000 pilots in the next 15 to 20 years.
  • This was stated by him at a function for acquiring 200 training aircraft for enhancing pilot training capacity.

Current Aviation Landscape

  • Currently, more than 800 aircraft are flying in India's domestic market.
  • The nation now uses about 6,700 pilots.
  • Meanwhile, different airlines ordered over 1,700 new aircraft, due to enter service in the near future.

Moves to Establish a Training Hub

  • Rammohan Naidu underscored the ministry's vision to make India a pilot training hub.
  • The Civil Aviation Ministry is taking a holistic approach to build a robust aviation industry.
  • As part of the effort, the authorities will inspect and grade 38 flying training organizations to provide quality training standards.
