Afghanistan captain achieves historic milestone

Rashid Khan, the captain of Afghanistan, has engraved his name in the record books by becoming the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket history. He is currently playing for MI Cape Town in the SA20 League in South Africa. He reached this milestone after taking two wickets against Paarl Royals. This brings his total T20 wickets to 633 across international and league matches.

Among those wickets, he took 161 wickets while playing for Afghanistan. The remaining 472 wickets were taken across various domestic and franchise leagues.

A Familiar Face to Indian Cricket Viewers

Rashid Khan is very popular globally and has an enormous following in India. He is really popular among Telugu cricket fans since he was with Sunrisers Hyderabad for four years in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is currently playing for Gujarat Titans.

The Afghan spinner achieved the record in 461 matches at an impressive bowling average of 18.08. He surpassed former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who took 631 wickets in 582 matches at an average of 24.40.

Talking about his joy over this milestone, Rashid said:
