In the Ranchi Test against England, Indian wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel dedicated his Player of the Match accolade to his parents. On Friday, March 1, Jurel shared a picture on his Instagram page to express his gratitude to his parents for helping him with his cricket career, which has been amazing these past few days.
On his Instagram account, Jurel posted a photo of himself and his family. His mother is shown carrying his "smart saver of the match" and "player of the match" medals, respectively, in the picture.
The cricket community has been pleased with Dhruv Jurel's cool-headed batting and deft wicketkeeping during the current Test series against England. He was named Player of the Match in the Ranchi Test, defeating equally impressive players like R. Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav, thanks to his recent brilliant display in both innings with the bat.
Following a mini-collapse in the Indian batting lineup, Jurel's outstanding 90 off 149 balls in the first Ranchi Test innings gave his side resilience at the wicket. He relieved some of the burden on Shubman Gill, who was playing well, in the second inning by scoring an unbeaten 39. Eventually, with one Test left in the series, the pair established an important 72-run partnership, which ensured their side's series victory by a score of 3-1.
Both fans and previous cricket greats have showered the player with adulation; many have already drawn comparisons between the young player and former India captain MS Dhoni. Jurel acknowledged the compliments but stated that he preferred to concentrate on his results rather than succumbing to comparisons of such a high calibre.
Starting on March 7, the fifth Test match between India and England would provide Jurel with a chance to continue his outstanding form and further cemented his spot in the Indian team.
